We woke up to overcast skies, but set out for Strawberry Bar with Seth and Maddie for this year's first attempt at fishing. It was a very slow morning except for the excitement of a 25-inch Northern Pike that graced my line within the first 1/2 hour. It seems we often lose Pike when they see the boat and dart, but this one didn't put up a huge fight and Seth was able to land it for me and we got it in the boat. We ended up with the Pike and 3 perch for our morning total.

Tom doesn't typically mind cleaning fish (as he listens to podcasts and books to pass the time away), but he really dislikes cleaning Northern Pike as the Y-bones make it very challenging. He watched a Youtube video over lunch and then got down to business. Of course, things are never as easy as the videos make it seem, but he managed to get 'er done, and the end product, which we fried up for supper, was delicious!

Before dinner, Tom and I rode the Migizi Trail (Pike Bay Loop) on our bikes. As always, the scenery was beautiful and the ride, peaceful. We met Paul with Tommy (who was riding the trail for the first time) as we went around the loop.

Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill seemed to be the perfect choice for our 4th of July supper. We fried up our fish as well so Jared could have some fresh fish during his short stay with us. While we were making supper, Jared took a quick spin around the Migizi trail as well. After supper we all enjoyed various activities including sitting around the campfire, making s'mores, watching fireworks over the lake, and hanging out with friends.
