All in a day's "work"

Monday morning is the start of our "work" week here at the lake. And by "work" I mean fishing, biking, swimming, tubing, playing games, watching movies and reading books.

At around 11:00 a.m., after waiting for a brief shower to end, Tom & I, and Seth & Maddie all took off to try our luck at some fishing. Maddie had a new pole (a birthday gift from Seth) to try out. Turns out, it worked pretty well, as she ended up with three of our thirteen keepers. We fished in Allen's Bay (between the Dog's Head and the Boomerang) and ended up with 1 perch, 1 big bluegill, and 11 rock bass by the time we came home at 2:00.

I spent what was left of my afternoon on a bike ride (11 miles today), kayaking with Deb, and reading. Tom also took a nice ride to Bemidji and back (34 miles), cleaned some fish and read his book. The kids enjoyed some swimming and tubing with friends and cousins, played some games and watched some movies. Since this is the first time Deb & Roy's family have come for two weeks, the girls have had fun introducing cousins Kara, Leah & Erin to the M-family and friends Tomm, Andrea, Lawrence and Jake.

In about an hour, I will be running over to Bemidji to get Jared from the airport, as he is flying in from Florida where he has spent the weekend for his friend Phil and Codi's wedding. We are looking forward to having him join us, and although all seven of us in a small cabin can get a bit tight, having the whole gang together for the week is definitely worth it!
