That's all she wrote (for this year, anyway)

We were up early and like other years, I was treated to a beautiful sunrise. We packed up the car, said “goodbye” to the lake, and hit the road by 7:15 a.m. We stopped for breakfast about an hour and half down the road at a truck stop/restaurant Dad had remembered from another trip home. We loved the huge pancakes, and the food and service were good (although somewhat pricey).

The drive was long and uneventful, and we arrived in DeMotte at 7:45 p.m. We stayed overnight at Mom and Dad’s and after attending church with them, we drove home. Although I already miss the lake, there’s no place like home and it’s good to be here.
