Lazy, Hazy Monday

There are wildfires in Ontario that are leaving a constant haze over our lake here in north-central Minnesota. Especially in the morning, it looks like a gray, cloudy day. And today, although the wind was light in the morning, it picked up quickly, and there were whitecaps on the lake before noon.

Those factors, combined with the desire to have just one “do-nothing” day, made me ask Tom if we could just take a day off from fishing. Since we’re all on vacation, of course, he said “Sure. We don’t have to do anything if we don’t want to.”

I guess my Dad’s voice is still in my head. Fishing was his job when he went on vacation, and he’d head out, weather permitting, every single morning and evening, except on the Sabbath. I put Dad’s voice out of my head (“Silenzio, Bruno!) and stayed in my pajamas past noon.

I spent the day working on my blog, uploading pictures, posting some “week one photos” to Facebook, writing to my website subscribers, paying a couple of bills, and doing various other things on my “do-nothing, to-do” list.

My knee was still very stiff and sore from Sunday’s bike ride, so I didn’t ride my bike, nor did I get my 10,000 steps in. So it really was a lazy Monday in terms of physical activity.

After a dinner of leftovers, we sat down with the girls to watch the Pixar movie, Luca (from which the line “Silenzio Bruno!” comes). It was a fun movie full of cute sea monsters, pasta, and cycling. Sounds like our vacation! What’s not to like?
