Family love, good life

I woke up early Sunday morning, and was graced with a beautiful sunrise...a mixture of pink, blue, peach and purple. I ran outside in my PJ's to take a few photos, and noticed a couple drops of rain beginning to fall. It was super early, so I went back to bed, and when I awoke around 8:00, I could hear a steady rain falling and the skies were completely gray. Hmmmm...not a great day for a picnic.

The Sunday when everyone has arrived at the lake is our traditional family picnic day. After filling up several rows at the EV Free Church of Bemidji, we gather ourselves together around three or four picnic tables back at the resort and enjoy what has become our traditional fare: pork chops, potato casserole, salads and parsley bread.

Lucky for us, we came out of church to find sunshine...and the picnic was on! The food was delicious, but the time spent around the table, and afterwards on the lawn with family, even more precious!

This year we had a total of 25 of us, from 83-year-old Grandpa and 80-year-old Grandma down to 1 year old Benjamin (and our newest addition...the puppy!). Of those of us who are usually here, we were only missing Leah, who was unable to come due to her summer job at Camp Ray Bird (but several of us had a chance to Facetime with her in the afternoon).

What started as a beautiful day, ended as a beautiful day. Life is good at the lake.
