Good luck, bad luck...or just lucky?

Another vacation day...another fishing adventure. Dad, Tom & I went out to Pike Bay again, and once again, caught 14 pan fish (10 perch and 4 rock bass)...PLUS a nice 15" walleye for Tom! It was the last fish he pulled in and very gratifying, after a little bad luck (losing two nice fish right next to the boat) just before that. While I had pretty good luck fishing, I was not having the best of luck in everything else. My new hat flew off into the lake (luckily I was able to catch it before it sank); as I was bringing in a big rock bass my coffee tipped over and leaked all over the floor of the boat (and got on my hat which was drying on the floor); and at one point I caught the marker with my line. My bad luck continued back at the cottage when a glass pyrex bowl full of watermelon slipped out of my hand and shattered all over the kitchen floor! Uhhhhggg!

Putting my bad luck behind me, I joined Tom on a nice long (but windy) bike ride around Cass Lake. It's a 31-ish mile trek we did together last year, and was my longest ride so far this year. I did okay until about the last 4 miles when I started to "bonk." Leg and back cramps were not the most pleasant way to end the trip, but I survived and we made it safely back to the cabin in a little over 3 hours.

As we came home, Chloe was heading out to see a movie with several friends and cousins. Phyllis and I fixed dinner and fried the catch from this morning...nothing like a meal of fresh fish after a challenging ride! After dinner, Tom, Phyllis and I went to the lodge to enjoy some speedy internet. We ended the night with a bowl of ice cream back at the cabin.

Whether things are going swimmingly or I'm having troubles left and right, I think I'm pretty lucky to have this amazing place and these great people in my life!
