Sabbath rest

After saying "hello" to the lake, I started nesting as Tom unpacked the car. We were happy to see our cabin had been updated with a new sofa and love seat...an excellent improvement over the old worn-out gray sectional we had used for many years! The church service at the Evangelical Free Church of Bemidji was an uplifting experience. The sermon was appropriately titled: Rest Matters. The pastor talked about the Sabbath, or day of rest, as being a gift to us from God. He encouraged us to take a break from work, and inspired all of us not to try to pack too much into our vacation, but to use this time to get refreshed and renewed.

Unfortunately, we could not not immediately start in on resting, as we needed to get our groceries for the week. But after a quick shopping trip to Walmart, we headed back to Birch Villa. The afternoon was gorgeous...sunny, but with a light breeze and slightly cool. We visited. We knitted (Phyllis & I). We biked (Tom). We read (Chloe). We rested. And it was good.
