Crappie in Pike Bay...whaaaaat?

For the first time this year, we were able to get Chloe to join us in fishing. And after she caught the first fish of the day (a nice rock bass), she actually seemed to be enjoying herself. Leah also had a great time, catching a large sunfish early on. Actually, we ALL had a great time! The fish were really biting, and we just kept fishing (from about 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.) despite some chilly temps and occasional misty rain, until we had 36 fish in the live-well! Besides our usual perch (17) and rock bass (16), we found Leah's sunfish, and two really nice 12-inch crappies (something we don’t remember EVER catching in Pike Bay before!)!

Although half of our afternoon was gone by the time we finished lunch, we managed to accomplish a few things in our remaining hours. I did the laundry and updated my blog. Since the wi-fi is really spotty at our cabin, it’s much easier to do bloggy-type things at the lodge (which is also where the laundry is). The girls played some games and then participated in a resort-wide egg toss. Chloe and her partner actually won one round! Tom…well, he cleaned fish. When he was finally finished, he headed out for a bike ride, and we planned to have a late supper.
