Windy Wednesday

Windy Wednesday Cass Lake, MN

Cass Lake, MN

The weather this week hasn't been as cooperative as last week. We woke this morning to cool temperatures, more wind, and lots of white caps. We decided to put off fishing in favor of reading our books, hanging out by the lodge (to use the internet for facebooking and blogging), and sitting in the sun, which was warm despite the wind. Tom also took another bike ride around Pike Bay to try out his new tires.

The kids enjoyed a fishing contest in the harbor in the afternoon. At least a dozen of them competed for the big prize: a cheese pizza at the lodge! It was a clean sweep by Kara, who won "most fish (12)," "biggest fish," and a couple of smaller prizes for "the next one to catch a fish wins..." Everyone had a fun time catching and releasing their little perch. Leah wished they had had a prize for the smallest fish, as she caught a tiny perch about 2 inches long.

As the day went on, we became less interested in fishing (it was still really rough on the lake), and more interested in relaxing. So we had another nice family meal of Jumbalaya & tossed salad, and afterwards all huddled around to watch "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1." We can't wait for the midnight showing of Part 2 tomorrow night!
