Toddler Time and Date-Night Dreamin'

This morning was my day to be lazy and skip out on fishing. Instead, I opted to stay back with Chloe and Ollie. He was as entertaining and cute as a two-year-old can be, as he invented his own games, “read” the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and giggled through our tickle-wars.

Tom, Seth, and Maddie went out to the area around the Potato Islands, and came back with five fish–two rock bass, and three perch. We plan to save those and hopefully add a few more to them for our fish dinner tomorrow night.

Tonight’s dinner plan was “date night.” Tom and I started this years ago as a way of escaping the chaos of our small cabin full of young ‘uns for a little adult conversation and quiet. Sometimes we are joined by other relatives. Tonight it was just the two of us. At the Turtle River Chophouse, we talked about our dreams and plans for the future, and the retirement activities I’ll begin in earnest once we return home.

Seth and Maddie also had a date night at a Thai restaurant they’ve gone to before in Bemidji. Chloe spent the evening at the cabin with her favorite date. 🥰
